Lola Toben was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. She started taking piano and voice lessons at age 8 and was already singing professionally at weddings by the time she was 10. A lover of jazz, blues, gospel, musical theater, and pop music, she soon began writing her own songs, combining all of these elements. With the help of other local musicians, Lola began to emerge in the St. Louis music scene. http://www.musicoflola.com
Her newest project, Lola & the Kickbacks, began early in 2013. This group gave Lola an outlet for her original music. She is excited to start working on an album with the group this summer, collaborating with many local musicians.
Sam Lewis plays soul music.
While it bears the sonic landmarks of roots music’s most fertile ground, the songwriting of Sam Lewis is born of a landscape that can only be felt, not seen. His music is native to the infinite expanse that is exposed when human attention is full, and focused inward – harvested solely by the nuanced rhythm of love. Sam’s songs are rooted in the energy that defines this harmonious frontier, the space that unifies the human experience in each of us. It’s the anchored spirit in this incubated territory of soul for which Sam Lewis works to celebrate and elevate with the tones of rock & roll, rhythm & blues and a country-folk muse.
