The People’s Key debut performance at Jazz at The Bistro in Grand Center

Join, organ jazz band, The People’s Key, as they re-imagine iconic pop standards from the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond in their debut performance at Jazz at The Bistro. The band features an eclectic cast of locally invested St. Louis musicians, unified as one cohesive sound. Driven by the swingin’ groove of Organist Ryan Marquez the group features the electrifying Matt Rowland on guitar, the smooth sounds of Charlie Cerpa’s Tenor Saxophone and the dynamic rhythms of Mike Murano. Chrissy Renick will add her silky voice to the band’s groove on select pieces for a portion of each set. Together they infuse classic jazz sounds with modern covers.  

Their catalog is a cultivation of modern favorites that feeds listeners a taste of nostalgia only jazz can reminisce. The unit cultivates the spirit of many familiar jazz artists’ sounds such as Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, Booker T & MG’s, Soulive, Grant Green and Miles Davis. Artists covered include Green Day, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Bruno Mars, Radiohead, Jay-Z and much more.  

Recently remodeled as part of the Harold & Dorothy Steward Center for Jazz in Grand Center, Jazz at The Bistro is the perfect listening environment to experience live music. A stage regularly graced with legendary talent.

The People’s Key will perform 2 sets each night, Oct 12th/13th, 7:30pm and 9:30pm.

Bio
The People’s Key is an organ jazz ensemble designed to connect the jazz vernacular with a modernized songbook. The People’s Key performs material from popular artists, genres, songs, and themes to engage in the maximum connection possible with their audiences. Debuting in 2013, the group has had the opportunity to open for national acts such as The Jeff Coffin Mu’tet and Fareed Haque’s Math Games. 

The band has released 2 albums The Sean Carter Jazz Suite with Lamar Harris (2014) and Heal The World (2015). They are currently working on new record, Within You, to be released later this year. 
Named on top 10 list of artists to watch in St. Louis by the STL Post-Dispatch (’15). Nominated Best Jazz Band by RFT (’14). The group has done entire themed shows of the music of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s, Video Games and Jay-z.
